Therapeutic Case Worker â Identified role - Homelessness Youth Assistance Program (HYAP) â Hunter LGA
The Opportunity
This role provides therapeutic case work support to unaccompanied children, young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The role is responsible for quality, trauma-informed, strengths-based services, while also undertaking complex casework, counselling, and family intervention to improve safety, stability, and long-term outcomes. The role focuses on strengthening family relationships, improving wellbeing and safety, building family capacity, and supporting young people to remain safely connected to their family, education, community and support networks. Through assessment, counselling, mediation, advocacy and coordinated service responses, the Therapeutic Case Worker works to prevent homelessness, reduce family conflict and promote sustainable outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families and culturally appropriate supports to improve the outcomes for Aboriginal children, young people and families.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/CRITERIA:
· Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic interventions (e.g. counselling, mediation, family work) with young people and families
· Experience working with complex needs, trauma, and homelessness or at-risk populations
· Strong knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based and evidence-based practice
· Experience in case management, assessment, and family reunification
· Sound understanding of child protection legislation and frameworks
· Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
